The Asset Tracking Platform
The RF Track asset tracking solution is designed to provide both real-time asset tracking visibility and automated asset inventorying capabilities depending upon your specific needs. The platform supports both passive and active and RFID, allowing customers to integrate one or more technologies. The asset inventorying capabilities increase accuracy and significantly reduce the amount of time associated with inventorying and auditing the location of fixed assets. Unlike traditional text and barcode asset tags that must be physically located one at a time and read visually or with a barcode scanner, RFID significantly reduces this labor intensive process because it does not require line of sight, can read at longer distances, and can read multiple tags simultaneously.
RF Track can utilize handheld RFID readers and/or fixed RFID readers to audit the location of fixed assets such as IT equipment. Fixed readers can be incorporated at entries, doorways, exits, and other key locations, to provide real-time tracking of assets in an unattended mode. Fixed readers can also be set up in zones providing real-time monitoring of asset locations to ensure assets don’t leave their assigned zones. Rules can be defined to trigger integration with asset management systems, security systems, and other hardware/software systems.
RF Track Features Although RF Track does maintain information about each asset; it is not an Asset Management System. It is an Asset Tracking System, designed to automate the process of tracking assets, not to manage those assets from a systems administration or accounting stand-point. It can however be easily integrated with existing Asset Management Systems, and is designed as a complementary system that provides the asset tracking capabilities that most Asset Management Systems lack. RF Track provides two primary modules; Inventory and Monitoring. Real-Time Tracking the Monitoring Module provides real-time asset visibility and monitoring capabilities. Active RFID options include zone monitoring, choke-point (entry/exit) monitoring, tamper detection, and motion detection. We also provide the ability to associate assets with personnel tags in order to track assets such as laptops and ensure they a leaving the building with the appropriate personnel.
Tag reads can be associated with event triggers that can include integration logic with asset management and security systems or rules that determine if an alert or alarm should be raised. If an asset is not leaving the building with assigned personnel, an alarm can be triggered. The monitoring features also allow organizations to completely automate the asset inventory process, by inventorying the assets in realtime and eliminating the need to physically inventory the assets.
Asset Inventory
The Inventory Module provides a semi-automated solution for inventorying assets using a handheld RFID reader and passive RFID asset tags. The RF Track Mobile Windows application on the handheld RFID reader, allows the user to either manually select the current audit location or read the location’s RFID tag to automatically determine the current location. Each location is reconciled based on the assets that assigned to that location in the system. Found, missing, and extra assets are clearly identified on the screen as tags are read within each location.
As the asset tags are read, their audit date and seen location are maintained to provide visibility of each asset’s current location as well as build a location history of the asset.
